Feeling Moody? It May Be the Colours around You

Colours and your mood are inextricably linked. Even simple changes to the colours around you can make huge impressions on your psyche and without knowing you start behaving differently. There are several reasons why colours are able to influence how we feel and scientists haven’t been able to figure everything out very accurately yet. While they are at it, here are certain colours and their hushed effects on our psychologies.

Lively red
Restaurants all around the world make use of the colour red because there is a certain effect that the hue has on us. The colour promotes liveliness and energy and it was found that when people are surrounded by people they know and feel positive they eat better. The colour is also associated with aggression but mostly it evokes positive feelings in people. So here is a small tip, if you are choosing chairs and tables for your dining table, get red ones. colour Masterbatches of different hues impart different colours to product and you will get as many variations as you want by looking at the right places.

Relaxing green
Green is very relaxing on the eyes and has a very soothing effect on the mind. Perhaps you have noted that actors sit in a green room before performing in live stage that is because green helps them soothe their jangled nerves better. That brings us to the point, if you want a nice place to relax after you return from office, you should choose green for your sitting room.

Clean Whites
White is the colour which represents cleanliness and is great for places where you want to keep clean lines and unsophisticated. Whites are great for cleanliness, sterility and hygiene. White is the colour you want to pick if you are looking for plastics to place in your kitchen.

Save Money with High Quality Plastics

Using additives add to the price of the product, but how necessary is that and what could happen if the right mix of additives are not used during production. Every ingredient in a Masterbatch supply has a different function and the lack of even one of them may make the product cheap, but in the long run the compromise in quality will lead to product damage, which in very simple words mean just one thing – you will have to buy the same thing all over again and spend twice the money whereas you could have just spent some more and chosen a better product. Here is how good products made with proper masterbatches help you save money.

Save on Protection Against Impacts And Breakages
Masterbatch suppliers make special additives that make polymers absorb shock better than when additives are not used. Additives known as impact modifiers help plastics endure physical shocks better. Without the right kind of additive, the chances of breakages and cracks increase manifold. Also if the product is very cheap it would be safe to assume that on impact the product will look unsightly and dirty as well.

Prevent freak fires

Consider a situation wherein you walk into a store and buy a cheap electrical product (cheap because it didn’t use flame retardant additives) because you were planning on saving some money. Now imagine, the product catches fire and you lose not just the product but also burn a part of the carpet! Is that what you want? Your frugality will cost you more instead.
Instead of saving a few hundred here and there on important electrical products, choose to buy plastic products that have been made to last long.

Industries That Can’t Do Without Plastics

Plastics are considered the de facto nemesis when it comes to the war against pollution, but did you know that day in and out plastics products are still the most important of  all that is used by the waste management industry to deal with wastes. So when we were all thinking that plastics did nothing but brought harm, the truth is that plastics are helping man amend the loss that has been brought about to the environment.  But that is not the only industry that plastics serve. There are many more each with their specific needs.   Masterbatches Manufacturers have to cater to each of these unique industries with different masterbatches. Here are some of those industries that depend a lot on Masterbatches Manufacturers.

Construction Industry
Perhaps no other industry uses plastics as much as the construction industry.  Builders need to keep a track of all the materials they use during their work. For the construction industry, Masterbatches Manufacturers have to design batches that add specific features to products that are necessary for architects and builders. Big bags, debris container and sensitive material containers are all made by Masterbatch makers and supplied.

Medical waste
Medical waste is a health threat which if not properly disposed can make trigger widespread health issues in the vicinity of the dumping ground. Safe disposal is of utmost importance to the medical fraternity and Masterbatch designers have been serving this segment of the industry for years with great products.

Waste recycling and clean-up
Professional waste cleaner depend to a large extent if not entirely for their job. You may have seen dumping services, use big plastic dumping bags and other stuff  to whisk away garbage bags from the sideway. Those plastic containers are made for the garbage industry and used widely, needless to say that separate masterbatches are made.

Additives That Enhance Polymer Properties

Invisible UV radiation breaks down polymer molecules in plastics. This leads to deterioration in physical strength, color and other integral properties of plastics. You must have seen the effects of UV on polymers in stadium seats or in plastic garden chairs. The surface usually turns yellow after prolonged exposure and after a while, big chunks start breaking apart, imparting a really ugly look to it. Something has to be done to arrest deterioration in plastics; thankfully there are products that have been designed exactly for that.

UV Absorbers

Hydroxybenzophenone & hydroxyphenylbenzotriazole are two commonly used Polymer Additives that react with UV rays and prevent it from damaging polymer molecules. After application, it converts UV into harmless infrared rays which keep the plastic protected from the symptoms of UV degradation.

Anti-Microbial Additives
Did you know that untreated polymers can lead microbes to thrive in nooks and corners of plastic furniture at your home? The risk was assessed quite a long time ago and Anti-Microbial Additives were designed to prevent that from happening. Anti-Microbial Additives are commonly applied in all kitchens as well as garden plastic products you will find in market today.

Optical brighteners

The paper we use to write on would have had a yellowish tinge to it had it not been for Polymer Additives that add brightness and whiteness to the final product.  How an optical brightener works is by absorbing invisible ultraviolet light and re-emitting it as visible light in the blue range of the spectrum. Optical brighteners, or fluorescent whitening agents, are used to make plastics, fibers, coatings, inks, and detergents appear whiter and brighter.

Odor Absorbers – Making Plastics Smell Better

Plastics have an inherent odor that is quite unpleasant. This happens because during the manufacturing process, several chemicals are used to make the final product more appealing and long lasting. There are plasticizers and artificial colors that are basically chemicals and in the past, most of these released smelly gases. In recent days, the problem has been largely solved with improved ingredients in Masterbatches. The main ingredient that makes plastic less smelly is known as odor absorbers and we will get more into that later,  but first let’s begin by understanding what the industry did to counter malodor in plastic products.

 Use of fragrant masks
Malodor in plastics is caused primarily by two things.  The first which is more common is bacteria and microbial organisms that emit gases during respiration. Though this seems not much of a problem but when you consider the fact that there could be millions of them on the surface of a plastic product and you have a big problem on your hands.

Masterbatches which contain anti-microbial agents can control the problem to a great extent, but it is only part of the solution because there is another reason behind smelly plastics – VOC.

Volatile organic compounds contain harmful chemicals that smell bad and are detrimental to human health. There is double interest among masterbatch makers therefore, to provide solution to this problem. Until now this was dealt with the help of masks that tried its best to keep the odor under control but was not very efficient at doing that. Sooner or later when the masks wore off, smell would return, making this a rather very ineffective solution. That was the past recent masterbatches come laced with something that is better at doing what it is supposed to do – keep odors out.

Use of odor absorbers
Quite early into application processors found that masks were failing in being effective. This gave rise to the need for something that went beyond the surface and did more than just mask the smell away with fragrance. The need was for: odor absorbers. This additive trapped VOC molecules and dealt with the issue at the very core. To make sure that smell was completely eliminated, Color masterbatches makers never did away with using masks. Now you will observe that plastics do not smell at all and that is because of these recent developments.

Masterbatch – What are they and where they are used?

Plastics are an important element in our daily lives and Masterbatches play an important role in the manufacturing of plastics across the world. Let’s start with understanding Masterbatches first. Masterbatch is a concentrated mixture of pigments and/or additives encapsulated during a heat process into a carrier resin which is then cooled and cut into a granular phase. The main task of Masterbatches is that they allow the processor to color raw polymers in a cost effective way during the manufacturing of plastics.

There are typically two types of polymer resins are used.  Carrier resin and dilution resin. Carrier resins are resins in which the pigments and/or additives are carried and which forms the masterbatch. While dilution resin makes up the bulk of the plastic processor’s finish product. To meet the rising demand for plastic products, there have been numerous Masterbatch Manufacturers in India.

Inorganic pigments are manufactured from natural raw materials and include fundamental types such as titanium dioxide, iron oxides and ultramarine blue. At the same time, it is important to notice that some types are not used due to their toxic levels. On the other hand, organic pigments are synthesized and possess lower heat stability than inorganics. One of the major drawbacks of this type of pigment system is that they are generally non-toxic and conform to legislation relating to food contact and safety.

The colorful world of color Masterbatches

Have you tried to know how plastic products get colors? These colors seem very much attractive but there is great science behind these colors. There are Masterbatches used to bring colors to them. Their purpose is not just to add colors but also in making the best color match using spectrophotometer. The most expensive the product is, the better quality masterbatch will be required. For best results, you may need to shell out some more but after all you’re getting quality.

A large number of plastic products including toys, cosmetics and medical devices employ the use of color Masterbatches that are primarily used to add colors. Adding colors is not the only task as the embedded colors should also be stable and attractive. Especially for toys, the colors should be contrasting and eye-catching. Actually the use of Masterbatches depends on the exact requirement of the application and the value that product carries. For example, mobile covers are made with flexible plastics and come in a wide variety of colors so as to allow people to give a stylistic appeal to their handsets. So, these Masterbatches are of great use as we humans survive on plastics and it is difficult to find any object in the world without plastic.

Additive Masterbatches – Playing a vital role in plastic manufacturing

When it comes to plastic manufacturing, there are lots of processes undergo before the final product comes out. Along with, there are various materials being used during the manufacturing as each of them plays a crucial role in determining the final quality of the product. One such material is masterbatch. Polythene is typically natural in colour and Masterbatches are used to add colour to it.

Different kinds of Masterbatches are used to give the polythene its opacity of colour. For a hint of colour, 1-2% is found to be sufficient. For dark colour, the masterbatch percentage varies between 6-12%. It is important to note that there are certain colours that have good opacity properties e.g., white cannot be opaque so co-ex needs to be made with a colored inner layer.

Besides coloring, there are many other advantage of Additive Masterbatches. They result in increasing effectiveness against Fungi, Yeast, Algae and Bacteria. In addition, they also deliver more strength to plastic. Other properties are scratch resistance, strength enhancer, and brightener etc. The only thing one needs to take care of is to choose a reliable supplier of Masterbatches. A thorough research is much needed for this job and today internet opens up many possibilities for further research that would actually help in finding the best supplier.
